SUNDAY EXPRESS A Song for the Dark Times: From the iconic #1 bestselling author of IN A HOUSE OF LIES

I can't stop reading these Rebus novels. They're all great. When I finish the latest, I think I'll start all over again with number 1. Consistently impressive and so much better than all the dross out there. A pleasure to still be surprised by the twists of a Rebus and friends adventure. Simply just a Just brill book! A Song for the Dark Times: From the iconic #1 bestselling author of IN A HOUSE OF LIES Reading this novel is a good brain exercise as is all the Rebus books I have read. Well done and keep up the good work. Tony C

A

I don't think Ian Rankin is capable of writing a bad book but the bar as been set very high within the Rebus series and A song for the dark times struck me as being something of a transitional effort. Rebus has now long since retired from the police and old habits die academic The storyline is not wearing thin. It is still absorbing and rewarding to read. I am constantly amused by how Rebus conducts himself, even though he is retired. I feared retirement would dilute the stories not so this is a page turner. Similarly the characters around A Song for the Dark Times: From the iconic #1 bestselling author of IN A HOUSE OF LIES Enjoyed the story. I found the plot a little too drawn out though. Perhaps not one of Ian's best.Still a big fan. Enjoyed the story line that kept you guessing all the way to the end and encourages you to read of the same Nothing to say apart from that I thoroughly recommend this!
