The Enchiridion: the wisdom behind this “manual” is still very much relevant today: opening w/the caution against worrying about things you cannot control. Some things are in our control, others are not. Control what you can, and let everything else go. Followed closely w/Don’t hold such attachments to objects or people that it impedes your sanity. I enjoyed the narration by Jason Sprenger very much, his voice is clear and harmonious. Well done, I recommend this book for anyone who could use a quick reminder of what’s truly important for day to day happiness. English Quick, useful read; easy to understand, digest, and apply. More of a modern translation of the content, I think. I’d be interested in a less contemporary version also, only to see if I interpret it differently than this contemporary version. spanish-literature I will say kudos to the author for taking the time to make this book. It is not an easy task, i’m sure, And than likely i would never make one. But, the grammar and spelling in this book as caused me to stop reading at page 33. Although it has been adapted for the contemporary reader it seems it was taken to you typical high school research paper level. Also the price is a bit steep considering its only 117 pages of actual reading material and only printed on the front pages. 121 pages I have been exploring the Stoics in this season. Between Covid, heart surgery and getting laid off I need some vision of how to proceed and understand my life. Amazon I found this translation to be not 'easier to understand for the contemporary reader' and was further marred by typographical and grammatical errors. It is very short and could have been improved through having an introduction to the Stoics and the life and times of Epictetus. Certainly not worth the very expensive cover price. Epictetus
