He's part of the Neville Hallidae gang who specialize in robbing banks in remote Rocky Mountain mining towns. It has netted them a small fortune so far, but things are about to take a turn when they happen upon a burned out homestead while they are fleeing Federal Marshals. The only survivor of the burned out ruin is a little girl by the name of Andoreana Dean and she's about to put a burr in the lives of these desperadoes on the run.

I decided I needed another western to read and this one seemed to fit the bill. I found this a very entertaining and moving account of outlaws doing what they do best or worse however it's viewed and how a simple thing a little child can change the hearts of men who suddenly see their lives differently than before. This is a very good tale and it was simply fun to read. The girl just experienced the death of her mother and brother, blaming herself. She recognizes the danger of being with these men, but relies on their conscience and honor to care for her. The US Marshall in pursuit keeps the pressure on the gang, but despite of this, they plan another robbery. Things go from bad to worse when the gang fights over letting the girl go or killing her after the robbery.

Andoreana Dean was the only survivor of a blaze that destroyed her home while her father was away. Now Franklin Dean is searching for his daughter with a U.S. Marshal. Dean and the lawman know that Andy has been picked up by the notorious Neville Hallidae gang.

But what the manhunters don't know is how the presence of little Andy Dean is changing each one of the hard-bitten bank-robbers, and setting off a struggle among them.

Now, as the law closes in on two sides, Andy is caught in between. Each outlaw knows Andy can identify them and that their final choice must be between her life...or theirs. The Ordeal of Andy Dean
